Global accounting and advisory network 3E Accounting has launched an operation in Hong Kong, its 26th office in Asia.

The Singapore-headquartered professional services firm said that Hong Kong’s prominent role on the international stage made it a logical move. The new office will enable 3E Accounting to better serve its existing customers with their operations and expansion into Hong Kong, while allowing the firm to grow a new client base in the special administrative region of China.

“Hong Kong is an international finance and business hub offering access to the global markets. It is also an important gateway to Mainland China with pivotal roles in the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative. The city has strong appeal to foreign companies as a strategic springboard to tap business opportunities in the world and China, which provides 3E Accounting ample business opportunities not found elsewhere,” said Lawrence Chai, who founded 3E Accounting in 2011.

The move is part of 3E Accounting’s “long-term business strategy to channel our expertise to support our clients’ overseas growth and expansion,” he added.

The new office, located in downtown Central, supports clients with a range of professional services including company incorporation, accounting, tax, management consulting, and immigration and compliance services. Similarly to its profile in home market Singapore and internationally, the focus is exclusively on start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), setting the firm apart from mid-tier focused rivals such as BDO, Grant Thornton and RSM.

To meet initial demand for its services, 3E Accounting has hired and relocated a number of senior professionals, and hired six graduates straight from university. Keira Tan Lyn, Arthur Liang, Ng Jia Yu and Zann Leo joined the firm’s general graduate traineeship, while Cheah Shun Yee and Melville Ng joined the firm as trainees focused on software development.

“We believe in investing in local talent,” said Chai.

Amid Covid-19 restrictions, the new office was inaugurated digitally through a conference call that was attended by several company leaders.
